Thursday, May 29th

Hello girlies!!

Tonight is a PLANNING night! We are going to Brittney's at 8:00 and are going to schedule nights for the rest of the summer. If everyone could please have a plan for at least one night that would be great! If you can't come, give Britt or me a call so we can know your schedule (when you'll be out of town and stuff).

Hope to see you there!

Oh, and we'll have treats, of course!

Thursday, May 1st

We'll also be going to get some delicious frozen yogurt at Yogurt Stop before we embroider tonight, so just meet at Sarah's at 8 if you can come!

Thursday, May 1st

Hello!

I'm sorry that I'm posting this so late! Tonight we're going to go to my (Sarah's) apartment at 8:00 to embroider. My sewing machine is also an embroidery machine and can do little pictures, letters, words, etc.

Since I'm still learning, tonight let's just do really simple things like names, initials, borders, or one color pictures. You can sew them on a pillowcase, or on fabric that you want to make something out of later, or whatever you want. The fabric can't be super thick, and the back of the embroidery will be raw, so you'll want to do it on something not yet made, or something like a pillowcase where you don't see the inside.

What to bring:

  • Thread...whatever color you want. The embroidery will hold better if you use "embroidery" thread, but it's totally fine with regular too!
  • Fabric...Like I said, you won't want the back of the embroidery to show, so make sure you bring something that you haven't put together yet (ie: One side of a blanket you're making) or something where the inside layer won't show (pillowcase, skirt, etc.). Also, the fabric has to be large enough to put into the embroidery frame which is about 12 inches x 6 inches, so even if you're going to cut the fabric into a smaller piece after we embroider, you'll want to bring the larger piece just to embroider it.

Let me know if you have any questions! Oh, and feel free to bring a few different things because it doesn't take long!

Cheesecake Factory

Here's a pic of us gals at the Cheesecake Factory! We all ordered something different and then passed around and sampled each other's...SO GOOD!!

Thursday, April 10th

Hola!

This Thursday, we'll be going to the Cheesecake Factory at Fashion Place for some yummy dessert! We're meeting at my (Sarah's) apartment at 8:00 and driving there together.

Let us know if you're coming so we can either wait for you (if you want to drive together) or so we can at least get a table big enough (if you want to meet us there).

Call Brittney or Sarah with any questions!

HOPE YOU CAN COME!

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Hi gals!

Tonight we are going to Melissa's house to "pamper" ourselves. We'll be painting our fingers and toes and all that jazz, so bring any supplies and colors you want and be there at 8:00, or just whenever you can come!

Call Melissa if you have questions!

Thursday, March 13th

Hey girlies!

I don't know if anyone even reads this, but I thought I would post just in case. Well, Rachel Ridd's reception is tomorrow, so we're not going to have dork night.

For our next dork night, though, I think we're going to go to one of our places, make a dessert, and plan some dork nights. I'll post later with all of the details, but keep next week in mind since we're going to be planning stuff!

Thanks!

Thursday, February 28th

We are going to cancel Dork night for this Thursday, February 28th. Most of us have conflicts, so we'll have to pick it up next week.

Thursday, February 21st

Hey ladies!!

So, I'm really sorry that this is being posted so late! Thursday kind of snuck up on all of us. So, we decided that we are going to decide what we are going to do the following Thursday at that night's dork night. Did that make sense? Well...the bottom line is that we're going to decide sooner!

Tonight we are going to go see Definitely, Maybe at the Century on State Street at 7:20. We're going to meet at my (Sarah's) apartment at 6:45. Let me (Sarah) know if you're going to come so we can know who to wait and save seats for!

Hope to see ya there!

Thursday, February 7th

Hey ladies!

Sorry this post is so late! It's been a crazy week! Anyhoo...we're going to keep it simple tonight and go to Brittney Hanks' apartment at 8:00 to watch THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB. We'd love to see everyone, since it's been a while, so I hope you can come!

Call Brittney if you have any questions about where she lives.

Thursday, January 17th

Hey Gals! We're going to go to Melissa's house this Thursday at 8:00 and play Ticket to Ride (GREAT GAME!)! It's going to be way fun, so I hope you can come! Call Melissa if you don't know where she lives.

Happy New Year!

Well, we had our first 2008 Dork Night last night at my (Sarah's) apartment! Thanks to the girls that came! We had a great time!

Anyway, we're going to start using the blog more, rather than texting all of the time, so make sure you check it once a week! We'll try and always have something posted by Tuesday night. Oh, and please don't hesitate to come whenever you can! We're normally hanging out til 11:00 or later, so don't miss it just because you can't come right at 8:00!!

Oh, and PLEASE let us know if you want to host a night or if you have some fun ideas!

NOVEMBER 8th DORK NIGHT

So this Thursday night, Melissa was gracious enough to host the event. We'll be meeting at her house to enjoy a delicious treat, watch a movie, and as always, just have fun hanging out together! We'll be meeting at 8:00, but feel free to stop by at any time if you have other things going.

Thursday, October 25th

Hey gals! This Thursday, October 25th, we're going to be celebrating Halloween! No, you don't have to dress up (in fact, you can dress down if you want...wear your pjs!) We are going to go to my (Sarah's) parent's house and make a Halloween treat and then watch a scary movie. If you don't know where I live, call me!

Hope to see you there!

P.S. Please let us know if you are coming by marking it on the poll to the left.

Swim Cover-Ups

We had a lot of fun sewing swim cover-ups ... just wanted to post these pics for everyone!

Recovering couches

My (Sarah's) sister just moved into a new house and is getting rid of some of her old couches. If we want, she will sell us a couch and loveseat set to us for way cheap (around $50 for the pair). Brittney Hanks knows how to recover couches...not just make slipcovers, but really reupholster couches. It's really quite amazing!! Anyway, if we want, we can buy the couches from my sister, buy fabric (Joann's is having a sale right now and has home fabrics for very cheap) and recover the couches for a few Dork nights. Then, we can sell the couches on Craigslist or KSL and keep the money to fund Dork nights!

I think that we can make a lot of money and I personally would love to learn how to recover couches. However, before you say yes, you have to know that it's definitely hard work. It entails taking apart the couch (pulling out all of the staples that are holding the fabric down), cutting new fabric, sewing cushions, and putting the couch back together (using a staple gun to secure fabric).

If we have 5 or more girls, I think it could go pretty fast, and I think we'd have a fun time doing it.

Let me know on the poll on the left if you are interested. I know I probably made it sound way hard and not fun, but I think that we could have a blast doing it, and it's really worth learning!!

October 4 - Finishing Swim Cover-Ups

Thanks to everyone who came last Thursday! We had a fun time starting our swim cover-ups and hanging out together. This week, we'll just plan on finishing the cover-ups at my house at 8:00. Let me know if anyone has any questions. We'll see you then!

September 27 - Swim Cover-Ups

So I'm way excited about sewing swim cover-ups. After looking extensively through patterns, I think this one has a couple good options that would be simple and way cute. With the blue dress, I'd probably leave the bottom of the dress open so that it's not gathered how it is in the picture. The pink dress would be super cute, too. You can always adjust length to whatever you prefer.

So to those of you coming, here's what you need:
1. 1 7/8 yards of 60" stretch knit fabric. When I looked, the best fabric options were velour knit and fabrics in the dance/swimwear knits section.
2. 1 spool of thread that matches your fabric.
3. 1 package of 1/4" wide elastic (for pink dress only)
4. Brining a sewing machine is optional ... let me know if you're planning on it so I make sure we have enough.

If you have any questions, call me or just post a message.
